EVENTS

We'll be teaming up with our faves for an afternoon of giveaways, special drinks, and a viewing of this hilariously, inspiring film The Forty-Year Old Version!
The Forty-Year Old Version is the debut feature from writer/director/star Radha Blank produced by Lena Waithe.
This film is the gift that brought laughter, introspection, and an opportunity to enjoy an image of Black Womanhood that we rarely see on screen! Blank plays a fictionalized version of herself, a once-promising playwright stressed from navigating her day job, white gatekeepers, and turning 40. So what does she do? Start rapping, of course! This hilarious and oddly inspiring film earned Blank the directing prize at the festival's U.S. dramatic competition, as well as this year's Sundance Vanguard Award. We have all felt the sting of not being where we thought we should be or wanted to be in life. We love that this is the story of a Black woman going through a midlife crisis, which is something we never see in film. We want to enjoy it with you!
Matinees with Mamas is a FREE VIRTUAL event, so there's no reason not to come and get some Black joy!
